3 Glacier Any large mass of ice that moves slowly over land
There are 2 kinds of glaciers continental and valley

4 Continental Valley A glacier that covers much of a continent or large island A long narrow glacier that forms when snow and ice build up high in a mountain valley

5 Ice Ages When continental glaciers have covered large parts of Earths surface Plucking When rocks freeze at the bottom of glaciers while they’re moving

6 Till The mixture of sediments that a glacier deposits directly on the surface Ex. Clay silt sand and gravel Moraine Till deposited at the edges of a glacier forming a ridge Kettle A small depression that forms when a chuck of ice is left in a glacial till

7 Key Concepts What are the two types of glaciers?
Valley and continental How does a valley glacier form and move? When snow and ice move How do glaciers cause erosion and deposition? It brings up some of the snow and erodes it
