The Bible testifies who Jesus was Jesus took our place on the cross

Memory Verse COLOSSIANS 1:13, 14 “For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”

ASSURANCE OF SALVATION STEPS WE NEED TO MAKE Follow God’s will for our lives Celebrate daily God’s victory in Jesus

FOLLOW GOD’S WILL FOR OUR LIVES STEP ONE

God’s Will The experience was extremely painful and disturbing. Jesus suffered the fate that should have been ours. A. What was Christ’s experience at Gethsemane? Matt. 26:37, 38

God’s Will He asked the Father to let the cup be taken away from Him, if possible. Jesus voluntarily consented to the will of the Father. B. What was the attitude of Jesus concerning what He was about to face? Matt. 26:39-42

STEP TWO CELEBRATE GOD’S VICTORY

God’s Victory On the cross God experienced the penalty of sin. “God Himself was crucified with Christ; for Christ was one with the Father.” — EGW in Signs of the Times, March 26, 1894. A. What was the nature of the suffering experienced by the Godhead that caused Christ to ask, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” Matthew 27:46

God’s Victory “It was necessary for the awful darkness to gather about His soul because of the withdrawal of the Father’s love and favor; for He was standing in the sinner’s place... The righteous One must suffer the condemnation and wrath of God, not in vindictiveness; for the heart of God yearned with the greatest sorrow when His Son, the guiltless, was suffering the penalty of sin.”—EGW Comments, The SDA Bible Commentary, vol. 7, p. 924. The Godhead suffered the consequences of our sins. That’s what our salvation cost.

God’s Victory B. What did Jesus mean when He said that “it is finished”? John 19:28-30 “It is finished” meant that the perfect atoning sacrifice had once and for all been offered and that heaven and earth had been reconnected through it. This victory was revealed and sealed through His resurrection--the assurance of our salvation.
