Earthworms 1) Earthworms are animals that live in the soil. 2) They do not have any eyes, ears, hands, & legs 3) They do not have any bones. 4) They are invertebrates. 5) They have long thin bodies covered by moist skin.

Earthworms 1)Earthworms are all different sizes and colors. 2)They live all over the world. 3)Every earthworm is both male and female.

Earthworms 1)Earthworms hatch from eggs. 2)Earthworms live on the forest floor and underground. 3)Earthworms can’t see but they can sense light.

Earthworms 1)Earthworms breathe through their skin. 2)Earthworms have 5 hearts. 3)They have a mouth, head end, and a tail end. 4)They have 2 sets of muscles, long and round.

Earthworms 1)Earthworms can move forward and backward by squeezing their long and round muscles. 2)Their bodies are made up of many, many ring shaped segments.

Earthworms 1)While pushing through the soil the earthworm eats leaves, dead plant roots, and animal remains. 2)Earthworms swallow soil and rocks to grind their food.

Earthworms 1)Earthworms absorb nutrients from food, and what is left passes from the worms as castings. 2)Earthworms help the soil in many ways. They dig large burrows which let water and air into the soil and helps rain water drain. 3)This helps stop soil erosion and lets the water and air get down into the roots of plants.

Earthworms 1)The burrows help plant roots to move easily through the soil. 2) The worm’s castings is an excellent fertilizer (plant food). 3) Adult Earthworms wrap eggs inside a cocoon on the ground. 4) Some eggs take weeks or months to hatch.

Earthworms 1)Adult earthworms do not take care of their young. 2)A young earthworm grows to be an adult in 90 days. 3)Adult earthworms do not live long. Many die after one week in the wild.

Earthworms 1)Earthworms spend most of their lives underground. They come out at night /or in wet weather. 2)Earthworms have many enemies, birds, frogs, snakes, and people who use worms for fishing bait. 3)If an enemy breaks their body apart they can sometimes grow a new tail or head.
