2 Forensic Science Forensic Science is any kind of science that is used in criminal investigation and has legal application. Forensic Psychology Forensic Biology Forensic Pathology Ballistics Arson Forensic Interviewer A Forensic Scientist will analyze, interpret, collect, and determine information about a Crime Scene, weather that be through interpretation or specialized training in that field of Forensics

3 Jurisprudence Jurisprudence is the final step of any form of Forensic Science. Includes Prosecutors, Defense Attorneys, Judges, Law Enforcement, etc. It is up to the Attorney’s and Judges to interpret information that is given to them and present it to a Jury or Judge in a way that is understandable and relevant to convict or acquit an individual of a Crime. Attorneys must have a basic understanding of many of these forensic fields to adequately interview or present this information about a crime in a court of Law.

4 Education One must complete 4 years of undergrad before applying for Law School. Law School typically is a 3 year rigorous course. Following completion of Law School, you will have to pass the BAR Exam in the state that you wish to practice law in. The BAR is notoriously difficult and it is recommended to take a BAR Prep Course which takes about 6 months. Most Law Schools require an internship at a law firm at some point. Additionally, under the Federal 3 rd Year Act, 3 rd year law students may practice law under the care of a BAR certified Attorney.

5 Pay Scale for Attorneys

6 Evidence An Attorney will work with all kinds of evidence. They will work with direct evidence from a Crime Scene, Circumstantial Evidence, and interpreted evidence. An Attorney will interpret the information that is given to them by Forensic Scientists and apply it to the proceedings of a case. Anthropology-Human Remains Ballistics-Bullet Impressions Controlled Substances-Drugs Digital-Computer Content Pathology-Tissue Questioned Documents Toxicology-Blood Content Trace-DNA/Gunshot Residue.

7 Workplace Every county in the United States has a District Attorney’s Office. This is were Prosecutors work. In most cases the DA’s Office will be within a courthouse which will have a Superior, Magistrate, Juvenile, and sometimes Supplemental Courts. Defense Attorneys will also conduct their work here, as well as at private firms or a Public Defender’s Office. Fun Facts: There are close to 1.25 million Licensed Attorney’s in the United States. Los Angeles has the worlds largest DA’s office with more than 1,000 lawyers, 300 investigators, and 800 support staff The Paulding County DA’s office has 14 Assistant DA’s, 4 Investigators, 5 Victim Witness Advocates, and 20 individuals on support staff.
