3 Steps of Diamante Poems Line 1: one word (subject/noun that is contrasting to line 8) Line 2: two words (adjectives) that describe line 1 Line 3: three words (action verbs) that relate to line 1 Line 4: four words (nouns) first 2 words relate to line 1 last 2 words relate to line 8 Line 5: two verbs describing line 8 Line 6: three words (action verbs) that relate to line 8 Line 7: two words (adjectives) that describe line 8 Line 8: one word ( subject/noun that is contrasting to line 1)

4 Diamante Poems Line One The first line is the topic or theme of the poem. (opposite of the noun in line eight)

5 Diamante Poem Line Two Line two has two adjectives that describe the noun in line one.

6 Diamante Poem Line Three In line three there are three verbs describing the noun in line one.

7 Diamante Poem Line Four In line four there are two verbs that relate to line one and then two verbs that relate to line eight.

8 Diamante Poem Line Five In line five use two verbs that describe the noun in line eight.

9 Diamante Poem Line Six Use two adjectives that describe line eight.

10 Diamante Poem Line Eight Use a noun that is a antonym (opposite) for the noun in line one.
