2 b. The treasure we have in Christ - v.7-11 As we put our faith in Christ:- 1. We are put right with God –v.9 - not under God’s judgment – Rom.5:1; 8:1 - given Christ’s righteousness -2Cor.5:21 2. We become one with Jesus –v.8,10,11 - resurrection power now - Phil.4:4; 2Cor.4:8-11 - resurrection body then – v. 11 - sharing Christ’s sufferings –v.10 3. The glory of this treasure – v.7,8

3 3. Straining toward the goal – v.12-14 Paul makes clear that:- a. He is far from perfect –v.12 b. He strains all his being to:- - take hold of Christ - gain the prize – knowing Christ fully Cf. Moses – Ex.33:18 David – Ps.16:11; 27:4; 63 Kendrick – “All I once held dear …”

4 4. Your treasure/ goal As we make a “fresh start” we need to remember that Christianity is about Jesus. a. What do you put your confidence in? b. Is Jesus your first love, your treasure? c. What is your ambition?
