1 Aim #3.1: How do we factor quadratics? What is a quadratic equation?

2 How do we factor trinomials? FACTORS are numbers that multiply together to make a larger number! YOU SHOULD ALWAYS START WITH TAKING OUT AN OVERALL COMMON FACTOR IF POSSIBLE!

3 How do we factor trinomials? Steps: Multiply the first and last term (a by c). Multiply the first and last number (not the variables!) Find the factors of the answer that add together to make the center term. Drop down the first number and the last number, putting the two terms you found in the center. This now gives you four terms, so we can factor by grouping. Group the first and last two terms together. Take out the common factor of each, writing the left over factors in parenthesis still. Your parenthesis should be the exact same, which is your first factor. The common factors you pulled out is your second factor. You’re done
