2 What is Cloud Computing?  Cloud computing means that infrastructure, applications, and business processes can be delivered to you as a service, over the Internet (or your own network).  A cloud provider  Service Level Agreements

3 Cloud Computing Models  Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS). : storage and computer resources.  Platform as a Service (PaaS). : developers can build applications on top of computer infrastructure, may incl. tools.  Software as a Service (SaaS). : hosts the software, all you have to do is connect and use it.

4 Cloud Computing Types  Public clouds : outside of your company’s firewall.  Private clouds : inside your company’s firewall or a private dedicated space with a cloud provider.  Hybrid clouds : combine aspects of both public and private clouds.

5 Cloud Computing Characteristics  Elasticity and scalability.  Self-service provisioning.  Standardized interfaces.  Billing and service usage metering.

6 Cloud Computing Issues  Cloud security.  Cloud manageability.  Cloud standards.  Cloud governance and compliance.  Data in the cloud.  Connection.

7 Cloud Computing Advantages  avoid capital expenditure  low barriers to entry  shared infrastructure and costs  low management overhead  immediate access to a broad range of applications.  generally, users can terminate the contract at any time.  service level agreements with financial penalties.
