Assessment Tools 4 broad categories needs e.g. CAN symptoms e.g. BPRS, KGV, BDI, GHQ, HADS satisfaction e.g. CSQ functioning e.g. SFS The KGV is an example of an instrument for detailed assessment of psychiatric symptoms Similar instruments are the Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale (BPRS); the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale for Schizophrenia (PANSS)

Using the KGV Assessor Groups Focus primarily on the client Follow the interview sequence for the particular symptom area Make notes summarising the information given by the client After each symptom area, agree a rating according to the definitions contained in the KGV Observer Group Focus primarily on the interviewer Observe whether the interviewer deviates from the KGV interview schedule Make notes on the type of questions used by the interviewer Make notes on other aspects about the interviewer’s technique that you consider important
