2 State Nickname  Vermont is called the Green Mountain State because there are lots of trees and mountains. The mountains look green.

3 State Symbols  Bird – Hermit Thrush  Flower – Red Clover  Tree - Sugar Maple

4 State Climate  Vermont gets lots of precipitation. Most of that is snow, but also some rain.

5 State Resources  Vermont’s greatest natural resources are forests.  Mining is also important.

6 State Flag  This is the state flag and the state seal. The symbols on them show things in Vermont. Like the tree in the middle of both. It is like the nickname.

7 Famous Person  Calvin Coolidge, the 30 th president of the United States, was from Vermont. His father was a farmer in Vermont. He was nicknamed “Silent Cal” and everyone thought he was very smart.

8 Places to Visit  This is a picture of the famous Green Mountain State Park.
