Content Delivery Networks (CDNs) will carry over half of Internet traffic in 2017 Nearly half of all IP traffic will originate with non- PC devices by 2017 Traffic from wireless and mobile devices will exceed traffic from wired devices by 2016

Issues Backward compatibility New devices are built to still communicate with older devices and so must use the same packet size Speed has increased by 1,000,000 times, but packet size has stayed the same. There are 208 bits of overhead for every 1500 bits of data. At 10Mb/s overhead is roughly 1.38Mb/s At 10,000,000Mb/s overhead is roughly 1,386,666Mb/s Using twisted pair cable at high speeds can be a fire hazard The common road design problem The traffic you generate is directly proportional to the roads you build, and the more lanes that you put on a highway
