5 THE PROF’S META-GOALS  This course takes the mission of Harvard University seriously in that it strives to educate compassionate leaders that make a positive difference in society.  This course is intended to support you on your path toward finding and expanding your leadership skills and making a positive difference in the world.

7 Pedagogical Approach This class is focused on a holistic learning experience. It will include  Information and knowledge gained through the readings.  Reflective exercises for you to more deeply understand the various learnings,  Discussion and application of the knowledge through case discussions in class.  Action oriented application in terms of using the learned concepts for a group project.

8 Syllabus Assignments  Participation  Reading papers (Reflection) One point you agree with and one you disagree with (1 page) The purpose is to have everybody prepared for an in-depth discussion in class.  Framework assignments (Analysis/Application) teams of 2 reflect on frameworks that can help guide organizational leadership to deal with the outlined challenges. analyze and evaluate an organization of your choice and examine how well its leadership is doing and how it can do better dealing with the respective challenges. Personal life plan (Reflection)  Final Assignment: Benchmark report/Presentation: (Application) Collaborate with 3 other classmates to evaluate an organization based on how well it is dealing with all the outlined challenges: environmental sustainability social Sustainability stakeholder trust employee engagement Learning Journey( Reflection)

9 Syllabus Class Participation/Attendance Comments should be:  clear,  concise, and  offer ideas that will further our conversations. Grading Participation:  +2 High quality comment(s) in class. Comment(s) reflect your accurate familiarity with the case facts as well as your own diagnosis and analysis. These comments add to our overall understanding, push our conversations forward, and are clear and concise.  +1 Good comment in class. Comments reflect a familiarity with the case facts.  0 No comments in class.  -1 Unproductive comments in class. Comments suggest that you are unfamiliar with the case or are not following the conversation in class and repeat issues we have already discussed.
