 How do the pH, phosphorus, and potassium levels of soil compare in three different areas of human contact? Key Question

Hypothesis  Pond  Will have low results from tests  Water from pond my effect results  Pathway  Will have the worst results from tests  No helpful human contact  Football Field  Will have the best conditions  High results for all tests

Background Pond Mostly in shade Mostly in shade No human contact No human contactPathway Sunny area Sunny area A lot of human contact daily A lot of human contact daily Football Field Fertilized Fertilized Most human contact Most human contact

Materials  pH/Potassium/Phosphorus soil test kit (Separate)  Thermometer  3 containers (samples)  Spade  Test tube rack  Clip Board  Goggles

Procedures 1.Gather our materials. 2.Get soil (dig down 4 inches to get good samples) 3.Take temperature of soil in all three sites. 4.Once we have the soil follow the written procedures for pH, Phosphorus, and Potassium. 5.Record the data. Clean up.

Explaining our results  Reasons for location  Effects of Weather  Reason for differences

Interpretations of Results  Pond  pH a little low, phosphorus low, potassium good  Football Field  pH is good, phosphorus is good, and potassium ok  Pathway  pH a little low, phosphorus low, potassium good  Football field seemed to be in the best conditions.

Discussion Conclusion Focus on separate tests. Shorten time. Organizing work better.
