Creating a Resume Make yourself look good Carefully choose what to include Don’t include anything negative Keep it brief (1 page) Statements, not sentences

Contact Information Full Name Full Address Telephone Number E-mail address (if you have one) This information goes at the top of your resume!

Objective Here you want to state why you are sending your resume to this particular company Example: To obtain a position as a Family and Consumer Science Teacher

Education Name of your school Grade level GPA (if above average) Names of relevant classes

Employment Start with the most recent first Place of Employment Job title Dates of employment Main duties-list at least 3

Volunteer Work/ Community Service List this type of work here, only if it was unpaid work

Hobbies/Skills Name hobbies or skills you may have Include any special projects you may have done

Honors and Awards Name any specific recognition you’ve received for academic, athletic, or community service activities Examples: Honor Roll, Most Valuable Player, Volunteer of the Month

Extracurricular Activities Clubs or sports you belong to in school Activities outside of school you belong to

References Be prepared to name at least two people who will speak favorably of you Make sure it’s okay with them! Don’t include this information on your actual resume-just have the information handy
