2. Do you really know what copyright is? Copyright is a government law stating that you are the soul person to produce, distribute, or sell any form of music, literature, or artistic work. If someone wishes to use your work of art, they must first get your permission. When you don’t copyright your works, it is then public domain, anybody can use.

3. Do you really know what “fair use” is? Fair use is the public justice to copy any copyrighted work so as to suggest upon, criticize or badly imitate any copyrighted material. This can be done without consent from the copyright owner. Think to yourself.... Does it pass these tests? 1. Does it have a nonprofit educational purpose, or are you using it for yourself to make money, or get a good grade? 2. What kind of material do you want to use?... Movie, Music, Poem, Book, etc.? 3. Are you using a small portion such as a sentence, or paragraph, or are you using the entire thing? 4. Will it take money away from the author in any way?

Copyright Basic Principles Copyright principles include: - Make copies of your work - Distribute copies of your work - Perform your work publicly (such as for plays, film, dances or music) - Display your work publicly (such as for artwork, or stills from audiovisual works, or any material used on the Internet or television) - Make “derivative works” (including making modifications, adaptations or other new uses of a work, or translating the work to another media).

Poems: No more than 250 words Up to 3 poems by the same author Up to 5 poems from a book of poetry Photographs and Drawings: No more than 5 pictures or photographs from the same photographer or artist Up to 15 images from the same book No editing images Video No more than 3 min. or 10% of the whole video No editing video Music No more than 30 sec. or 10% of the entire sheet of music No more than 30 sec. or 10% of the entire recording No major changes to the music maybe made
