Map of Yellowstone

How Yellowstone Was Formed Most people say that Yellowstone was formed by a volcanic hotspot in Earth’s crust. Although, the North American plate supposedly moved westward over it and took over the hotspot.

Types of Rocks  Geyserite: A rock that forms when hot water dissolves silica from volcanic rocks. When it reaches the surface, it becomes Geyserite.  Travertine: A rock that is made up of Calcium carbonate and also makes up Mammoth Hot Spring’s terraces. I’m sorry, these were just a few samples I found.

Why Yellowstone Became a Park Yellowstone became a national park because the people around it wanted to preserve it’s natural beauty. The geographic features captured the people’s hearts. On March 1 st, 1872; the Government made Yellowstone the first national park in the world. Today, people from all over come to see the park’s beauty.

How Technology is Used Technology at Yellowstone is used to detect anything unusual in the ground, air, water, etc. for the safety of the park. Such as the animals, geographic features, and such. For example, the people there also use technology such as seismographs to study seismic waves from earthquakes to make the most detailed seismic pictures of the hotspot beneath Yellowstone Volcano.

Famous Landforms/Features  Old Faithful: An active geyser and Yellowstone’s most famous attraction in the park. It erupts about every 91 minutes.  Mammoth Hot Springs: Is a natural hot spring that is on Layered pieces of rock with water Flowing on top.  Yellowstone Lake: A lake near the center Of the park and hosts a beautiful ecosystem.
