5 How to search for Creative Commons photos on Flickr Go to the homepage (www.flickr.com) and click on the Search button without typing anything in the box. www.flickr.com

6 From the search page, click on the Advanced Search button to the right of the big Search button

7 On the Advanced Search Page… Type in the word or phrase that you are searching for and click on “Full text” or “Tags only.” Decide if you want to find all of the words, the exact phrase, or any of the words. Limit your search by putting a word or words into the box that reads “None of these words.”

8 Under “Search by content type” Decide what kind of content you want: Photos/Videos, Screenshots/Screencasts, Illustration/Art/Animation/CGI. You can pick just one, two of them, or all of them.

9 Under “Search by media type” Decide what media type you are looking for: photos & videos, only photos, or only videos. You can limit your search to only HD videos as well.

10 Under “Search by date” You can limit your results by date if you only want photos that were taken or posted in a certain time period.

11 Under Click on the “Only search within Creative Commons-licensed content” box. Decide if you also want to find photos that can be used for commercial purposes or manipulated. Decide if you also want to find photos that can be used for commercial purposes or manipulated.

12 To attribute the picture: 1. Use any copyright notices that might be attached to the photo. If there are none, then don’t worry about this step. 2. Credit the author. If there is a specific note on how to attribute the work in the author’s profile, then follow those directions. Otherwise, just use the username. 3. Give the title of the work. 4. Give the URL of the work. 5. Give the title and URL of the Creative Commons license.
