6 MONETARY INCENTIVE Allies owed the United States about $10 billion If the allies lost, debts would not be paid.

7 WAR President Wilson asked Congress for a declaration of war on Germany on April 2, 1917. The Senate approved on April 4. The House of Representatives approved on April 6.

8 FIGHTING The U.S. saw very little fighting compared to the other nations. The war was almost over by the time U.S. arrived. U.S. forces led by Gen. John J. Pershing. Most famous battle for the U.S. was Belleua Wood.
