Can we create electricity from a magnetic field? Electromagnetic Induction

Electric current can be created using a magnet by 2 different methods: 1. By moving a conductor inside of a magnetic field.

2. By moving a magnet around a conductor. Therefore, by using magnets you can control the current in your circuit.

Different Types of Switches

Electrical Function The function that an electrical switch fulfills is called control. The purpose of a control is to open and close an electric circuit.

Forms of switches. All of these are binary, meaning they are either completely on (contact made) or completely off (contact broken). Rocker switch, ex: power bar switch

Toggle switch, ex: light switch Push-button switch, ex: power button on most appliances

Magnetic contact switch, ex: alarm system, the magnet is pulled away from the switch when the door opens and the alarm goes off.

Could you figure it out?

Types of Switches

Your task Circuit design: – Create a circuit that contains the following elements: 4 light bulbs each controlled separately. A resistor Only 2 switches. You may work with a partner. Draw your circuit on a loose leaf and hand it in.
