9 What are the differences and similarities between the two festivals? Discussion How should we treat Chinese traditional festivals and some western festivals?

10 Nowadays, some people pay more attention to Valentine’s Day than Qiqiaojie, which was once one of the most popular festivals in ancient China. Anyway, each festival in China has its own tale and meaning. So we should hold on to our own festivals and culture, as well as pass them on from generation to generation. We should never allow some western festivals to take the place of Chinese traditional festivals.

11 Writing Write a different ending to the story of Li Fang, beginning with: As he sadly passed the tea shop on the corner on his way…

12 Li Fang Hu Jin Made an appointment with Hu Jin Waited in the coffee shop Not met herher Made an appointment with Li Fang Kept her word but waited in the tea shop Not turned up in the coffee shop Heart-broken; along with…; like a foolfool Would not hold his breath for her to apologize Would drown his sadness in coffee (wait without much hope) (drink coffee in order to forget the sadness/sorrow) Waited for him all the timetime Gave up and threw…awayaway Met Hu Jin without gifts Met Li Fang with giftsgifts Felt worried
