“to develop a sustainable working model using home-based Women artisan for ethical sourcing within the global supply chain ”

About Us Ruaab is a SEWA Bharat initiative, promoted and registered in 2010 as a producer company, owned, managed and operated by women themselves. It was developed to create an ethical model of sourcing embellishment work done by home based artisans by eliminating layers of middlemen eradicating child labour and connecting them directly to the global market, thus ensuring income and work security. They are no longer the invisible last link in the long global value chain. As of today, Ruaab has established 7 Production centres reaching out to as many as 1200 members out of which 750 are Ruaab’s shareholders. In spite of all the challenges they have successfully managed to advocate their model and break the strong contractor network by getting more and more work for their members from exporters as well as direct buyers.

About Us Currently Ruaab uses 3 different modes of business to provide market Linkage to its MEMBERS: Through Job Work we sell Service by connecting Members to Exporter where wage rate is better than Contractor rate. Mass Production helps us provide work to MANY. Ruaab’s success lies in delivering good quality at sustainable price in timely manner to set an example of an ethical sourcing model in the Garment Export Industry. Through Direct Exports & Domestic Brand “Loom Mool” we sell Finished Product by connecting Members to Direct retailers/ customers where it ensures Min Wage & aspire to pay Living wage in some cases. Ruaab’s success lies in delivering on-time ethically produced good quality products to retailers with the purpose to generate profits that get funnelled back into the organization to ensure model sustainability.

Center Of Excellence The SEWA Delhi-Monsoon Centre of Excellence was inaugurated on 24 th of June 2014 in the New Ashok Nagar Area of Delhi. The concept of the building was designed and formulated to be the focal point model centre to teach transparency and enhancing income level to the industry people. The aim is to develop the centre into a learning hub for the entire garment industry with special focus on embellishment by organizing special training sessions for the retailers, suppliers and contractors on fee basis that will generate resources for the centre. At present the centre acts as the crux of Ruaab SEWA’s activities where members assemble in a safe and clean atmosphere to work, conduct quality checks, collect and submit orders. An Information Desk (SEWA Shakti Kendra) booth is also placed for members to avail SEWA’s programs for social awareness and government linkages.

Some Highlights of Our Program Eliminates multi layer middlemen and their exploitation. Community based initiative remains responsive to the community needs of ‘women only’ staff It run like a work distribution centre where home-workers choose to work or take work home thus providing livelihood option in a non- factory setting. Provides access to Large Pool of Skilled Artisans (Members ) Ethical & Transparent Supply Chain Cooperative business structure solely benefits members - giving producers (Artisans) ownership within the industry.
