1 “Leveraging Utility Resources” April 1, 2010

2 | 2 Helping customers to manage energy use through:  Energy efficiency  Demand response  California Solar Initiative  Climate Smart (carbon offset) Continuous engagement of our customers:  Consistent dialogue to promote energy efficient technologies and behaviors  Contractors play a central role Leveraging Utility Resources - Integrated Demand Side Management

3 | 3 PG&E’s Whole House Program –  Comprehensive home retrofits that will follow the residential energy efficiency loading order; addressing the building shell prior to adjusting mechanical systems.  Prescriptive and Performance Based options with a Statewide goal of 20% energy savings in 130,000 homes by end of 2012. PG&E Serves Government and Communities –  Reduce the region’s contribution to greenhouse gas emission by reducing electric and gas consumption and installation of cost effective renewable projects.  Increase saturation of energy efficiency and renewable projects for government buildings, businesses and residents Other Leverage Points: PG&E could lend credibility to a community program and help overcome adoption barriers Takes advantage of the current solar and environmental mindset of the Bay Area Promote local green economy and link job training and placement programs (Laney College)  Provide customer focused energy efficiency and renewables services. Leveraging Utility Resources – Primary Focus
