3. In 1935, after graduating Junior High School and enrolling in John Muir High School, his brother noticed his talent for sports and inspired him to get into sports. He played 4 sports(football, basketball, track, and baseball) up until college until, tragically, while playing a football game, suffered a fractured ankle.(This happened at Junior College.) One day, while at Sam Huston College, he was given an offer by the Kansas City Monarchs to play in the Negro Leagues. He accepted a contract of $400 ($5,240 today) per month. This was a big boon for him at the time.

6. Jackie Robinson only had a few hobbies and interests. They included playing football and track. However, he also really had an interest in movies, which is why he agreed excitedly to star in a movie about himself.

7. Jackie Robinson had a wife and three children. Jackie met his wife, Rachael, at the University of California in 1941 and married in 1946. Together, they had three children. Jackie Robinson Jr.,( Born November 18, 1946) Sharon Robinson, ( Born January 13, 1950) and David Robinson. ( Born May 14, 1952) Sadly, Jackie Robinson Jr. died in 1971, 1 year before Jackie Sr.

8. Jackie Robinson was drafted into the Army in 1942. Jackie Robinson was an accomplished tennis player. While in the Army, Jackie befriended heavyweight boxing champion Joe Louis. Jackie Robinson, while in the Army, was court martialed for not sitting in the back of an unsegregated bus. Jackie’s brother, Mack, was a splendid Olympic sprinter.
