3 Executive information system A computer-based system intended to facilitate and support the information and decision making needs of senior executives by providing easy access to both internal and external information relevant to meeting the strategic goals of the organization. It is commonly considered as a specialized form of Decision Support System (DSS).

4 Advantages of EIS Easy for upper-level executives to use, extensive computer experience is not required in operations Provides timely delivery of company summary information Information that is provided is better understanding Filters data for management Improves to tracking information

5 Disadvantages of EIS Functions are limited, can not perform complex calculations Hard to quantify benefits and to justify implementation of an EIS Executives may encounter overloaded information System may become slow, large, and hard to manage Difficult to keep current data

6 Decision Support Systems Class of computer-based information systems or knowledge based systems that, in very different manner, support decision making activities.

10 Management Information Systems MIS is the designation for the field of computer solutions internal to an organization. An MIS department is typically responsible for administering the computer hardware, software, and networking within a company or group.
