In Cold Blood: Section 2 By: Allan Johnson and Sebatian Marquez

Part 1 of Section 2 In the beginning of this section which features Bonnie and Nancy Clutter, Jolene Katz and mentions Wilma Kidwell in an interesting flashback, we explore the simplistic life and daily routines of Mrs. Clutter. We begin at the Clutter household in which Nancy has just left to attend another engagement with Roxie Lee Smith where she would help her perfect her trumpet solo and would later run some errands for her mother regarding her older sister, Beverly’s wedding. As Nancy left, her mother, Mrs. Clutter offered to keep Jolene company while waiting for her mother to come and pick her up. While they waited Ms. Clutter was very klutzy in her speech; she would tell Jolene one adult idea and then remember how youthful she is and would exchange her first statement with a more childish one. The duo would later divert their attention to Mrs. Clutter’s case of “tiny things” where she would have a flashback of one of her “little spells” where she would have a meltdown about missing out on her children’s growth in life and confided in Wilma Kidwell. When Mrs. Clutter returned back from her daydream she told Jolene a story of when Mr. Clutter gave her a small paper fan which Mrs. Clutter would give to Jolene as a parting gift when her mother arrived. Mrs. Clutter would then, change into a nightgown ad begin reading a book which had in it a biblical verse essentially stating that you never know when your time of death will come which subtly foreshadowed Nancy’s fate.

Part 2 of Section 2 In this second part of section two we are invited to see Mr. Clutter’s daily engagements in which he attends a 4-H Meeting in the absence of his daughter. After the meeting Mr. Clutter drives his fellow neighbors, the Ashida Family, home and on the ride home the family and Mr. Clutter entertain themselves with the conversation of moving to Nebraska. After dropping the family off Mr. Clutter jokingly says she better not try to leave Holcomb or he’d hogtie her, which foreshadowed his fate.

Part 3 of Section 2 In the part of the section, we learn of Dick and Perry’s whereabouts where they make a pit stop at the store where they would look for black stockings to put over their heads in the event of a specific future robbery. Throughout this part Dick continues to say, “no witnesses” to Perry as a reminder and also continues to tell him that this plan could not go wrong and that it was absolutely foolproof.

Part 4 of Section 2 In this final part of the section we are given a first look at Kenyon Clutter’s life and his awkwardness. He was claimed to have been more of Bonnie Clutter’s child than Herb Clutter’s son. We are also shown various instruments that he has created over the years. We are also told of a previous friendship he had in which his good friend essentially left him for a female friend though he was seemingly hurt he continued his daily routine where the farmhand mentions a car being park near their home asking if Kenyon knew whose car it was. Then we flash to the lives of Dick and Perry who are at a hospital from which they would try to buy a pair of stockings that they would not be able to receive. While Perry waited in the car he was brought to reminiscing his cellmate and friend Willie-Jay who gave him great knowledge in jail. Dick would return to the car empty handed.
