My Personal Odyssey. By: Brittany Miller

When I went to POV, I was a library assistant, hall monitor & I was an anchor on WPOV. Also, my teachers often told that if I keep trying in life, I will succeed. When I went to KMS, I first became interested in Advanced classes, and throughout 7 th grade, I figured out what I wanted to do in my career. Ever since I first started KHS, AVID has helped me organize my classes all the way to 12 th grade for an Advanced Diploma to get into college.

When I went to the Bahamas, I realized how lucky we are in America. I also realized how lucky I am for who & what I have in my life. When disaster hit Haiti in Jan, 2010 everyone was disappointed somehow. It made us in America, and everywhere for that fact, reach deep in out hearts and give to help Haiti in recovery. This has helped me realize that not everywhere in the world is as lucky as us. We should be happy that we don’t got major hurricanes, tornados and tsunamis. It also made my personally realize that I need to stop thinking about myself all the time, and put other people first sometimes.

My grandparents on both sides have been there for my day and night. They have helped my family when need. When my mom went somewhere on business, my and grandfather were right there to take us in and watch us. My grandmother got remarried 3 years before she passed, and that showed me that if someone in your life is making you unhappy, why should you stay with them ? Recently, my grandfather died and my grandmother was grieving. We stayed with her through a lot, and my dad never let be at the house alone.

My mom and dad have been there in my life everyday, every night, and through thick and thin. When I got hit by a car, my dad was there every day helping me and making sure that I recovered okay. Even though my parents are divorced, my dad helps me, my mom, sister, and brother move almost every time. I love them, and any time that I need them, I know that they will be there waiting to answer any questions I have about life.

I fight with my brother every other day, and I get mad at my sister when she takes me clothes. When it comes down to it, I have to admit that I love him. My sister has helped me pick out the right clothes to make sure that I don’t look like a nerd. And my brother, well he hasn’t really helped me a lot, but he has been there for me and I have always been there for him. And that will never change. Also, they have showed me that love is the strongest emotion of all.

I often get told that I should be a teacher when I get older because I comprehend well and I do very well in school. But, I want to be a lawyer. I want to be one because I am really good at debate and I do well at figuring things out. I know that they require hard work and dedication, so that makes me fit into that career choice even more. I love to help people and it feels good when someone is proved innocent. I also want to go to either Harvard Law School or William and Mary. I set high goals for myself, but if I try and believe in myself, then I know that I can achieve them.
