2 After Installing GLS on your Computer Open the GLS program GLS – P3-8A Instructions Paul R. St.John, CPA 2 Double click icon on desktop and then double click FINAC application.

3 Opening GLS program GLS – P3-8A Instructions Paul R. St.John, CPA 3 Click on Problems in the ribbon menu and then select the problem you want.

5 P3-8A The Sci-Fi Theater Inc. GLS – Instructions P3-8A Paul R. St.John, CPA 5 Included in the file is the complete chart of accounts and the beginning account balances mentioned in the problem. Don’t believe me…before we do anything let’s look at the Trial Balance.

7 P3-8A The Sci-Fi Theater Inc. GLS – Instructions P3-8A Paul R. St.John, CPA 7 Now let’s start making Journal Entries. Enter Date, click Standard entry type, & enter description Then click row 1 Acct. & Sub. No. and then click F8 or button below

9 P3-8A The Sci-Fi Theater Inc. GLS – Instructions P3-8A Paul R. St.John, CPA 9 When done, select F4 or Save button.

10 P3-8A The Sci-Fi Theater Inc. GLS – Instructions P3-8A Paul R. St.John, CPA 10 Ready to start the next journal. Use pull down Get Entry: window and select New Entry.

11 P3-8A The Sci-Fi Theater Inc. GLS – Instructions P3-8A Paul R. St.John, CPA 11 No journal entry required for #2 in the text, so here is the entry on March 9, 2012. No T-accounts are required when using the GLS software, as it is electronically keeping track of all the General Ledger account balances.

St.John, CPA 12 Even though I am not done journaling all March’s transactions, I will go ahead and post these two to the General Ledger. No T-accounts are required when using the GLS software, as it is electronically keeping track of all the General Ledger account balances.

13 P3-8A The Sci-Fi Theater Inc. GLS – Instructions P3-8A Paul R. St.John, CPA 13 See how the Cash account shows the beginning balance, GJ1, GJ2, and ending balance. This is why no T- accounts are required when using GLS.

St.John, CPA 14 When finished with the Journal Entries and Posting them, Print a Trial Balance, place your name on it, and bring to class by September 27 th. Online students can use the Export button to create a PDF file using your initials and P3-8A for the file name. Then upload file to the Assignment Box in Bb. Please submit only the trial balance at March 31, 2012
