2 Birth/Death Birth/Death/ Other Info. Alan was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania in 1921. Alan moved to Salem, Ohio in 1933. Alan died on January 20 th, 1965 in Palm Springs.

3 Other Info. Alan Freed used the name Rock and Roll from the African American community which meant reproduction. Freed’s nickname was “Moondog.” Alan had many counts on him for unreported taxes. Alan died a penniless, bitter broken, drunken man. Alan’s famous trademark was “Hello everybody? How y’all tonight?”

4 Instrument Instrument and Type of Music In 1933 Alan played the Trombone and was a disc jockey. In his group there were the Moonglows, Shirley and Lee, and Screamin’ Jay Hawkins in some of the songs he was in. Alan mostly played the rockabilly, rock and roll, and jazz.

5 Learning Alan Freed learned to perform from being in a band in the 1930’s and being on air on the radio for many things.

6 Important Important recordings/ charts Alan never had any famous important music because he was a disc jockey but he was in “Oh What Night, I’ll Be Home, Sincerely, and Tears on My Pillow” in which he was the disc jockey.

7 Influence No one really did influence him to become a disc jockey but a band that he played in in high school brought him closer to music.

8 History History of the U.S At the time of Alan Freed the U.S was in World War II and the president during the war was Roosevelt.
