2 African slaves who must work for the white settlers.

3 The only people who were forced to come to America were the Africans. Between 1500-1800, millions of slaves were taken to America from West Africa. They were crammed into ships, chained together and given very little food or water.

4 Many of them died even before they arrived in America. The slaves were forced to work on plantations or in mines. Finally, in 1865, all American slaves were freed.
