You will now make an ISOMETRIC sketch This is a sketch that gives a 3 dimensional illusion TERMS THAT YOU SHOULD KNOW: Vertical = line that runs up and down Degrees = 360 in a full circle 180 in your protractor visualize 30 degrees as 1/3 up one side of your protractor Remember, you are sketching so, it is only approximate. Later, in a technical drawing it would need to be accurate. Parallel = lines that never touch, an example would be rail road tracks.

7. SUCCESS! You have drawn a simple box. Now that you have done that you will be able to sketch any cube type shape and add details. Later, you will find that with the basic steps that you have learned you will be able to draw more complex objects. We will add ellipse to your vocabulary so that you will be able to show holes or to draw cylinders. ISOMETRIC drawings, like OBLIQUE are used for smaller objects like computer monitors, toasters, boxes and items like that. For those of you interested in larger things like buildings and landscapes you will be learning to use PERSPECTIVE drawings later. In the next few slides we will add some detail to our box, just remember PARALLEL, 30 DEGREES AND VERTICAL!

8. Okay, add some detail! Let’s make it a cereal box (imagine that!) We’ll start with the top where the lid opens for you to pour out some MCs! Add the line…draw it light for now. (parallel to the sides!)

9. Now, let’s refine that line. Put that little tab in. Estimate about where it should be (somewhere in middle). 1 st draw the parallel edge (lightly) 2 nd make the (2) angled edges to make it look realistic (lightly!).

10. Okay, we will complete the top now. We will now darken the finish lines and erase those “guidelines” we started with.

12. Follow the same rules for lettering. “I” will be parallel with corners. The top of the “T” will be parallel with the top & bottom. BUT, FIRST you need light guidelines for your lettering. The guidelines (you got it) must be parallel with the top and bottom. NOTE: this is basic, there are times when you might want to put a slogan or other statement on an angle, but you will figure that out when you have to. Here, we will just do a simple M and H to give you the idea. Now, go experiment, design the next big hit for Munchie Crunchie Co.

13. There it is, now add a product name, ingredients, a sales pitch and anything that imagination of yours suggests (within reason!).
