10 Some observations SUCCESSES! – An amazing Rural & Northern Health Care Day October 18 th, 2005 – Top attendance ever!

11 Four stages of facing reality (Bisognano 2003) The data are wrong. The data are right, but it’s not a problem. The data are right, it is a problem, but not my problem. I accept the burden of responsibility.

12 Some observations SUSTAINABILITY – Our #4 deliverable.. “What Works” project is defined as a Manitoba Health deliverable! – Pushing ahead money from years 1-5 to year 6 – DONE (plus we won some $$$ from CIHR) – CIHR Team Grant to replace CAHR? – up to 5 years of funding … submitted November 15 th, 2005 WHEW! See submission I may need letters from each CEO, but sorry, I didn’t need them the first time round (the LOI stage) Involvement of Nova Scotia (Dalhousie) and BC (UBC CHSPR)

13 Some observations MISCELLANEOUS TIDBITS NEWSLETTERS … thanks to Elaine Burland!! PUBLICATIONS – article on Rural/Northern Indicator differences (is Romanow Right?) sent to the Healthcare Policy journal, and STILL under review – Article in first edition of the Healthcare Policy Journal (tales from the tectonic plates) – article on the evaluation (Bowen et al.) published in the Health Services Research and Evaluation Journal. – Second article on evaluation (Bowen and Martens) underwent second stage of revision and was resubmitted – CIHR KT Casebook … due any day now???

14 Our next Team meeting, and a crazy idea! CIHR Summer Institute is now planned for June 19- 21, 2006 (three full days and evenings) June … – How could we combine the meetings so they could “taste” what it’s like to co-create research with users of the research? – Possibly have 5 Team members for the three days as community mentors – Possibly have the Team meet for one or two days after that??
