THE GRACE OF GIVING II CORINTHIANS 8:1- 9

God’s grace gift to me is His Son

II Corinthians 8:1 1 And now, brothers, we want you to know about the grace that God has given the Macedonian churches.

II Corinthians 9:14-15 14 And in their prayers for you their hearts will go out to you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you. 15 Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!

JOHN 3:16 “For God so loves ME that He gave His one and only son that if I will believe in Him I will never perish, but I will have eternal life.”

John 1:14 14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

John1:16 16 From the fullness of his grace we have all received one blessing after another.

Romans 8:32 “He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?”

My greatest gift to God is myself

II Corinthians 8:5 5 And they did not do as we expected, but they gave themselves first to the Lord and then to us in keeping with God's will.

Romans 12:1 The Message So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering.

Grace-full living always inspires grace-full giving

II Corinthians 8:7 But just as you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in your love for us—see that you also excel in this grace of giving.

I Timothy 6:17-19 Tell those rich in this world’s wealth to quit being so full of themselves and so obsessed with money, which is here today and gone tomorrow. Tell them to go after God, who piles on all the riches we could ever manage—to do good, to be rich in helping others, to be extravagantly generous. If they do that, they’ll build a treasury that will last, gaining life that is truly life.

II Corinthians 9:7 7 Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

Exodus 25:2 2 Tell the Israelites to bring me an offering. You are to receive the offering for me from each man whose heart prompts him to give.

Grace Motivates Giving

II Corinthians 8:8-9 8 I am not commanding you, but I want to test the sincerity of your love by comparing it with the earnestness of others. 9 For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich.

Giving Manifests Grace

II Corinthians 9:12 12 This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of God's people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God.
