1 First Transfer and Settlement New Process (2011)

2 Following interviews, Presbytery E & S forwards names of Candidates recommended for Ordination/Commissioning (O/C) to Conference E & S Committee. (Early fall)

3 Following Conference Interview Board, Conference E & S Committee reports names of recommended Candidates for O/C to Conference Executive Secretary (by Jan. 31)

4 Candidate for O/C makes irrevocable decision, valid for one year, by February 1 to: a)Transfer (National) and Settlement (Conference) placement; or b)Seek Provisional Call/Appointment

5 Decision is reported to the General Council Transfer Committee and home Conference Settlement Committee. (new form to be created)

6 Conference Executive Secretary reports names of Candidates for O/C to the Transfer Committee of General Council by April 1 (Manual requirement)

7 If Candidate selects a), General Council Transfer Committee matches Candidates for O/C to conferences for suitable Settlement (mid-April).

8 If Candidate selects b), after Feb 1, Candidate enters regular call/appointment process within the Presbytery and Pastoral Charge/Candidate/Presbytery complete and sign Provisional Call/Appointment form (new form to be created)

9 General Council Transfer Committee transfers ALL Candidates to Conferences based on Transfer decision or provisional Call/Appointment. (mid-April)

10 Conference Settlement Committee matches Candidates in (a) with Vacancy or Ministry position in ministry unit and effects Settlement (April/May) or; Settlement Committee effects Settlement in response to Provisional Call or concurs with Presbytery decision to appoint.

11 Candidate is Ordained or Commissioned (late May-early June) Member of the Order of Ministry completes forms (signs form, completes PRC, references, ministry unit signatures) and Settlement Committee completes and issues Warrant to Covenant. (ASAP following O/C) Presbytery schedules Service of Covenanting

13 What is new/different: Candidates for O/C who choose to seek their own call/appointment may enter into conversation with ministry units at any time but can not sign any Provisional Call/Appointment form until after February 1, after they have been recommended as Ordinands or Commissionands.
