2 Residential segregation in the U.S. has deprived Black people of options for where they can live. Today, although it is illegal to discriminate against people based on their race, residential segregation still exists. It is just changing its form. I argue that residential segregation results in a shorter life expectancy for low-income Black people because they are confined to live in areas that are environmentally dangerous. Argument
