2 General Information  Movies are FREE  All films will be shown in their original language (with English subtitles).  Films are not rated and may include adult content.  Discussion after each screening, for those interested. Directed by Andr é s Wood  January 25 th, 5:30 pm  Bate 1010  This coming-of-age film, set in 1973 right before the military coup, follows the friendship that develops between two boys, Gonzalo and Pedro, who meet when the director of a private school attempts to integrate students of the upper and lower classes. Through the eyes of Pedro, a boy from a shanty town on the outskirts of Santiago, and Gonzalo, who lives in a wealthy suburb, the film portrays a moment of great political upheaval between social classes in Chile

Directed by Julio Medem  March 1 st, 5:30 pm  Bate 1010  This documentary about the Basque nationalist movement in Spain introduces seventy individuals from different walks of life that provide testimonials, opinions, and analyses of the conflict between the Basque separatist movement and the Spanish central government. A film organized as a forum that aspires to generate even more dialogue, it presents controversies among Basques themselves and Spaniards in general.
