Height and Body Type  Three basic body types: Ectomorph Mesomorph Endomorph  Endomorphs look good in just about any intensity of color (as long as it complements their coloration)  Ectomorphs and Mesomorphs look better in less intense colors

Ectomorph  Thin and angular  Delicate build  Young appearance  Lightly muscled  Stoop-shoulder  Has trouble gaining weight  Muscle growth takes longer

Garment Style  Does not have a direct impact on color, but does relate to your body type, which does impact color  Endomorphs – look heavier in baggy clothes  Ectomorphs- look frail in form- fitting clothes  How could this affect color?

Fabric Texture  Smooth, shiny fabrics reflect light Makes colors look brighter, more intense  Dull fabrics absorb light Tone down color, appear less intense  When would you want to use?

Lighting  Natural Light Shows true colors  Incandescent (regular light bulbs) Cast a warm light Intensifies warm colors, dulls cool colors  Fluorescent (tubular) lighting Intensifies cool colors, dulls warm colors  Where do you spend the most time?

Personal Coloring  All skin tones either have yellow or blue undertones Undertones – subtle traces of color seen through the skin  Blue or pink undertones Look better in cool colors  Yellow or peach undertones Look better in warm colors
