1 Acuña, Mexico – Memorial Day Flooding – May 25, 2015

2 In six seconds, a tornado ripped through the border city of Acuña with a ferocity that officials said hasn't been witnessed in more than 100 years This same weather cell impacted Acuña, Mexico. Communities were impacted the most in Houston, San Marcus, Blanco, Wimberley and other areas across Central Texas The Memorial Day Floods 2015 brought rain, flooding and tornadic activity to several counties, cities and communities across North, Central, and Southwest Texas.

3 Acuña Rebuild - First Baptist Del Rio, First Baptist Acuña, Texas Baptists River Ministry, Texas Baptists Disaster Recovery, and Mission Border Hope are partnering to be the presence of Christ in Acuña

4 - The Mexican Government is currently assisting residents by providing a small rectangle, cinder block home. For most families this space is not large enough to accommodate.

5 The government will not rebuild these additional spaces. For most the space was part of the dwelling prior to the tornado.

6 Mission Border Hope has committed to assist by providing cinder concrete blocks.

7 Primera Iglesia Acuna will enlisting families needing help. 1)Interview and complete an application, home assessment, provide appropriate documentation, provide before and after pictures. 2)Assess the family’s ability to contribute to the rebuild, ie., give towards construction, purchase supplies, etc. 3)Family commits to volunteer hours in rebuilding their home and other homes in the community. 4) Establish a timeline for construction.

8 -Several churches in Acuña are interested in participating. -Texas Baptist River Ministry will mobilize churches and Pastors along the Mexico Border to be involved in the Acuña Rebuild efforts

9 - The Acuna Rebuild Committee is planning a vision trip for church Leaders and Pastor beginning Oct. 1st thru 3rd. - Groups will contact Texas Baptists Disaster Recovery to schedule a date to participate in the Acuña Rebuild efforts.

10 Primera Iglesia Acuña has established a House Church that meets on this site each Thursday Evening ministering to families recovering from the tornado.

11 Volunteer teams can participate with VBS activities and assist FBC Acuna with this new church.

12 - First Baptist Del Rio can house up to 75 volunteers. Groups will be required to cook their own meals. FBC Del Rio charge $8 to $10 per person depending on the size of the group.

13 - FBC Del Rio’s Mission house is also available to house up to 20 volunteers. Teams will need to cook their own meals. Teams stay here for a donation.

14 - Gethsemane Campground, located in Acuna Mexico can house up to 100 volunteers at $10 per person. Groups from Mexico will be encouraged to stay here.

15 - Hotel / Motel rates in Del Rio range from $60 to $75 per night.

16 The Acuña Rebuild group commits to work together until God’s Shalom comes to Acuña.
