2 Measuring hints Be careful to use the right tool for measuring. Double check if you need a measuring cup or a measuring spoon**** The abbreviation for teaspoons is t or tsp The abbreviation for tablespoon is T or TBSP The abbreviation for cup is c

3 Liquid Measure Cups Use Liquid measure cups when measuring liquids like water, milk, broth, oil.

4 Dry measure Cups Use Dry Measure Cups when measuring dry ingredients like flour, sugar, and brown sugar. Dry Measuring cups are ¼ cup, 1/3 cup, ½ cup, and 1 cup

5 Measuring Spoons Use measuring spoons when measuring both dry and liquid ingredients. Measuring spoons come in ¼ teaspoon, ½ teaspoon, 1 teaspoon, and 1 tablespoon.

6 How to measure flour Flour is measured in a dry measuring cup.
Use a spoon to fill the dry measuring cup. Heap the flour well over the top. Do not pack or pat down the flour. Use a leveler, held straight, to push off excess flour. Be careful to scrape across the top.

7 How to Measure Brown Sugar
Brown sugar is measured in a dry measuring cup. Place measuring cup on counter, use a spoon to fill the cup Pack brown sugar (press down with bottom of spoon) Heap sugar over top of measuring cup. Use leveler to scrape excess brown sugar. Hold leveler straight across the cup and push forward holding leveler even the whole time.

8 What to use when measuring ¾ cup
To measure ¾ cup of a dry ingredient you need to use: ½ cup plus ¼ cup

9 Measuring 2/3 cup dry ingredient
To measure 2/3 cup dry ingredient, you need 2 different 1/3 cup dry measure cups (1/3 + 1/3 = 2/3)

10 How to measure liquids When checking your measurement is correct, place measuring cup on counter, and lower your body until you are at eye level with the top of the liquid so you can make sure your measurement is correct.
