2. Problem Statement There is a need to design a measurement system that will test physician competency in anesthetizing and maintaining patients during surgery.

3. Specific Aims To evaluate the need for the Human Patient Simulator. To evaluate current methods for measuring physician competency in surgical anesthesia. To propose an improved design to measure physician competency.

5. Evaluation Method Based on Military Procedural Evaluations Combines Objective Measurement and Subjective Evaluation Results are presented in a standard report format.

6. Objective Measurements Vital Signs Recorded from Patient Simulator Objective Score Based on Vital Signs Outside of 20% of Baseline

7. Subjective Measurement Report format is designed to include a subjective physician evaluation. Audio comments are recorded on video of simulation. Standard Report Form –Objective measurement filled automatically –Audio comments referenced for playback –Total score combines subjective and objective evaluation

8. Conclusion Simulation with a standard format for reporting objective and subjective measurements will provide a more efficient testing method for physician competency in surgical anesthesia.
