3 C OURSE OBJECTIVES This course is designed to provide students with fundamental quantitative concepts and skills essential in today’s business world. Various mathematical areas, including decimals and fractions, are introduced in light of business problem solving. In addition, other topics covered are annuities, present value, interest, insurance, taxation and investments. Equations and graphing will also be illustrated. 3

4 L EARNING OUTCOMES Use computation skills needed to make quantitative and precise calculations; These skills encompass the ability to: 1) solve mathematical problems; 2) analyze and interpret data, and 3) apply sound decision-making skills; Apply basic mathematical operations to solve problems; Solve problems involving whole numbers, decimals, fractions, percent's, ratios, averages and proportions; Use common international standards of measurement when solving problems; Analyze and interpret data using common statistical procedures, and Use mathematical procedures to analyze and solve business problems. 4

9 W RITING GUIDELINES FOR ASSIGNMENTS … Margins : One inch on all sides (top, bottom, left, right) Font Size and Type : 12-pt. Times New Roman font Line Spacing : Double-space throughout the paper, including the title page, abstract, body of the document, references, appendixes, footnotes, tables, and figures. Spacing after Punctuation : Space once after commas, colons, and semicolons within sentences. Insert two spaces after punctuation ending sentences. Alignment : Flush left (creating uneven right margin) Paragraph Indentation : 5-7 spaces Pagination : The page number appears one inch from the right edge of the paper on the first line of every page. Running Head : The running head is a short title that appears at the top of the pages of a paper or published article. 9
