ACTIVITIES Activity #1: Trip to the Parking Lot The students and teacher will go outside to the teacher parking lot if possible and observe the different vehicles. Looking at shape, color, and size. As a class, back inside, we will give general labels to all the vehicles we saw as well as any vehicles we know but did not see.

ACTIVITIES Activity #2: Sorting game The students will use their knowledge of the vehicles we labeled and play a sorting game. They will sort the cards by the characteristics using the pictures on the cards.

ACTIVITIES Activity #3: Beginning Sounds After going over everything we have talked about so far, we will continue to expand on the concept of transportation. Students will watch a video on transportation, then complete a worksheet. The worksheet asks the students to write the beginning sounds of the vehicles in the picture.

ACTIVITIES Activity #4: Test It Out Project The students will use this activity to discover why most vehicles have and need wheels. They will have two toy cars: one with the wheels taped so they can not roll and one with normal wheels. They will roll the cars down an incline while observing each cars speed and ability to roll and move efficiently.

ACTIVITIES Activity #5: Paint The students will invent a new vehicle, paint a picture of it, and then present it to the class. They will explain what it is and how we could use it in our world.

ACTIVITIES Activity #6: Making a Graph After we review all of our new knowledge of transportation and vehicles, we will read a story. Then the class will make a graph showing their favorite vehicles of all. We will then count which had the most vote and which had the least.
