Examples of Observations and Inferences Observations Inferences The glass is full of a clear liquid and ice. The liquid is cold There are no bubbles in the liquid. The liquid is water. The glass is near a palm tree, sand, and water. The glass is near a beach. The glass is sweating. The liquid is cold and the day is hot. Using observations to make inferences

6 An inference is a logical conclusion drawn from the available evidence and prior knowledge.
Example of an observation/inference: Due to a chance of rain I might need to take my umbrella to school. Because there is a child playing sign we must be near a park. The clouds look like snow so the children might be sledding. INFERENCE
