1. Oliana is a beautiful and interesting and town. It belongs to the region of the Alt Urgell, in the province of Lleida, in Catalonia, and it has got an extension of 32 km2 and an altitude of 469m. The population of Oliana is about 2150 inhabitants. Oliana is situated in the middle of the mountains and it is surrounded by woods. There is a lot of vegetation and nature

Our town has got many traditional celebrations, the most important are: the Armats, on 8th April; the Fira de Tots Sants, which we celebrate in November; a popular street market every Saturday; our Festa Major in August; Carnestoltes (Carnival, in February), and the Caramelles de Pasqua in April. Local economy depends on livestock and agriculture. There are lots of farms and the main breeds are sheep, cows and pigs. The River Segre flows along Oliana. It is a long river that flows into the River Ebre, one of the longest and most important rivers in Spain. In the Segre, there is a type of fish, the truita (trout, in English), widely fished and very popular in our town.

3. Oliana, an important village This is the logo of Oliana, and it is very nice. There is a yellow square and inside, an olive-tree. On the big white square there is a crown.

4. This is the belfry. It is not very pretty but it is useful. The clock is white but you see it grey. Know what? In the belfry there is a plastic stork!

5. This is the reservoir of Oliana This reservoir has a capacity of 200m3. It has two floodgates, and it produces a bit of electricity. This reservoir contains water from the river Segre. It also has 100m3 of mud.

8. The Outskirts Tragó and Nuncarga Little villages

9. Santa Llúcia This is the church of Tragó. It dates from 11th century. It’s got three apses and a bell. It’s a Romanic church.
