3 But HOW exactly did they use each part?

4 The Mandan Tribe used the SKULL as a religious alter.

5 The HORNS were carved into cups, spoons, ladles, and decorations.

6 TEETH became tools & decorations. & were used in ceremonial rattles.

7 The CHEYENNE used BRAINS. to process leather.

8 BONES were made into knives, arrowheads, shovels, sleds, clubs & dice.

9 HIDES became teepee covers, clothes, shoes, belts, bags, arrow quivers & dolls.

10 The Lakota nation used the HAIR in head dresses to stuff pillows, pad saddles and weave ropes.

11 The TONGUE, HEART & LIVER were eaten right away.

12 MUSCLES were cut into strips & preserved as jerky.

13 The four-chambered STOMACH was dried & formed into buckets, cups, & pots.

14 Kiowa hunters used SINEWS as bow strings & BLADDERS as water canteens.

15 TAILS became whips & BRUSHES.

16 The FAT was used in soap, cooking oil & candles.

17 HOOVES were boiled down for glue.

18 Finally, even the DUNG was dried & burned for fuel.

19 60 MILLION BISON roamed North America in the early 1800’s.

20 Then Europeans arrived in the west. By 1920, only 5000 bison survived.
