9. SCTE CONTEXT A context of disadvantage The College and its community, located in the northern suburbs of Geelong, is characterised by high levels of social disadvantage. The 2013 ICSEA has 73% of students in the bottom quartile and only 1% in the top quartile. The parent population is characterised by high unemployment, single parent families and high mobility. The Student Family Occupation (SFO) Index range within the College is between 0.7 and 0.9 The community reflects a diversity of learners that include students from non- English speaking backgrounds and a significant indigenous population. There is a significant enrolment of student with learning disabilities and differences some of whom are funded under the Program for Students with Disabilities. The college also has students who are identified as gifted and talented.
