2 Matt. 6:19-21 19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: 21 for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

3 MONEY Things you can buy with money.. 1. Mansion to live in here on earth. Some cost Millions of dollars. 2. Best car.. cost…Some well over $100,000.00 3. Best clothes…fancy clothing’

4 4. Skyscraper building..Billions 5. Football team..Billions 6. Warren Buffett: Worth Lots and lots of money 7. Bill Gates..Same with Bill Gates

5 8.. Resort … spend the night at The hotel …$32,000.00 a night. 9. Airplanes, Boats, Ships, etc…

6 Money can buy a lot of things.. Consider some of the people listed in The Bible as wealthy!, rich!

7 Abraham Probably the first rich person mentioned in the Scriptures is Abram. Genesis 13:2 says "Abram was very rich in livestock, silver and gold."

8 Isaac Genesis 26:12-15 Isaac, like his father, "became a rich man and his wealth only continued to grow. He acquired large flocks of sheep and goats, great herds of cattle and many servants."

9 Solomon I Kings 10:23. He was the King who asked God for wisdom. He got that, And become a truly rich man! The Scriptures say that "year after year every nation came to consult him and to hear the wisdom God had given him. Year after year everyone who visited brought him gifts of silver and gold, clothing, weapons, spices, horses and mules.

10 Jehoshaphat Jehoshaphat was a king in Judah.2 Chron. 17:3- 5. He was a good king who did not worship the images of Baal and obeyed the commands of the Lord. The Lord blessed him and all the people loved and respected him so much that they brought him gifts. They gave him so much, in fact, that he became very rich. (II Chronicles 17:3-5. )

11 Hezekiah II Chronicles 32:27-29. Hezekiah, who was so rich he had to build special treasury buildings for all his silver, gold, precious stones and spices, his shields and other valuable items. He even built more buildings to hold all his grain, wine, olive oil, cattle, sheep and goats. He was a very rich man!

12 Job. Job is a man who is rich when we first meet him in Job 1. He quickly loses it all but not because of anything he did. In Chapter 42, we see the Lord restores Job's fortune and gives him twice as much as before.

13 Zacchaeus Zacchaeus. He was a tax collector by trade and not very popular with the people. It was well known that the tax collectors gouged the people but all those taxes put Zacchaeus into a category of being very Rich. (Luke 19:1-10)

14 There are Earthly Treasures There are Heavenly Treasures Which is more important to you?

15 … Money can’t buy the hope of the Poor beggar. Luke 16:19-31 The rich man lived sumptuously every day…The poor man Begged for crumbs to eat. Which would you choose if you had to? The rich man died and was buried The poor man died and was in Abraham’s bosom.

16 What should we do with what we have? 1. Share with others. Give to the poor Gal. 6:10 2. Use it to spread the gospel.(Mtt.28:18-20) 3. Give liberally to God. I Cor. 16:1-2 Acts 20:35 4. Take care of your own family. I Tim. 5:16

17 “For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.” 1 Timothy 6:10 “root of all kinds of evil”

18 “Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one's life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses.” Luke 12:15

19 “A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.” - Proverbs 22:1 Reputation – respect. Dorcas Acts 9:36-ff Not purchased with money

20 “How much better it is to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver.” Proverbs 16:16 Pr.8:11 “Wisdom is better than rubies” Job 28:15 “It cannot be gotten for gold” Job 28:28 “the fear of Lord, that is wisdom”

21 James 1:5 “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” Wisdom - proper application of knowledge Cannot be purchased with money

22 “And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.” Ephesians 6:4 Love and discipline not bought with money
