11 Part III A Voyage to Laputa, Balnibarbi, Glubbdubdrib, Luggnagg and Japan Gulliver's ship is attacked by pirates and he is stranded on a desolate rocky island he is rescued by the flying island of Laputa, a kingdom based on the arts of music and mathematics but unable to use these for practical means. In it they describe a device as The Engine which is possibly the first literary description in history of something resembling a computer

12 Part IV A Voyage to the Country of the Houyhnhnms Gulliver was hesitant to return back to sea but does his crew was captured by Dutch and Japanese pirates in order to force them to also become pirates He is abandoned and meets a horse that speaks english He is then rescued, against his will, by a Portuguese ship that returns him to his home in England
