SensorMap: A Web Site for Sensors World-Wide Suman Nath, Jie Liu, Jessica Miller, Feng Zhao, Andre Santanche
2
The aim is to provide a web site that allows publishers to publish their sensor data By using Geo-centric web site such as Google Map and Windows Live Local, we can visualize the spatially and geographically related data over map interface This results number of maps-based interfaces with specific sort of data placed on the map Different data will be placed on the same map, which means the web site will include mutually compatible data The data will be real time sensor data Publishing data will be trivial and easy task Basic useful functionalities such as querying live sensors based on location will be provided
3
SenseWeb will consist of four components: GeoDB : Database housing sensor metadata DataHub : Send data directly via URL or using web service provided Aggregator : Sensor representation icon creation (temperature etc.) SensorMap GUI : Graphical User Interface SenseWeb lets end-users: To pose queries by drawing geometric shapes (e.g. a route), by specifying keywords and sensor types(e.g. parking sensors) To save views
4
Design Challenges: There might be more than one sensor network for the same area and same purpose (e.g. temperature) Publishers' sensor networks might not give correct data Used Geo-centric web site (e.g. Google maps) might not include details about sensor networks' region System Challenges: If a problem occurs in used Geo-centric web site, system will not work System needs sensor network publishers
