2.  Trajan became emperor in 98 ACE  Trajan was adopted by Nerva in 97 ACE  Nerva died on January 28, 98 ACE  When he entered Rome as the new emperor he entered the city on foot and embraced each of the senators and even walked among the ordinary people

3.  Throughout Trajan’s reign there was an increasing program of public works.  The road networks were greatly improved.  Previsions for the poor were made.  Two wars were fought against Dacia.

4.  He was suffering from circulatory problems before he died that he suspected were due to poison.  He then suffered a small stroke which partially paralyzed him  Shortly after he died in Selinus on August 9, 117 ACE

5.  Trajan’s successor was Hadrian.  Hadrian’s father was a cousin of Trajan.  Upon the death of his father he became the ward of Trajan when he was 10 years old.  He was emperor from 117 ACE to 138 ACE
