2 What Is PACS? PACS stands for Picture Archiving and Communication System. This new system will allow users to acquire, transmit, store, retrieve and modify digital images taken from modalities in Radiology Departments throughout Group Health Cooperative.

3 Who Will Be Affected? PACS Patients Primary Care Physicians Specialty Physicians Network Providers Radiology

4 Anticipated Benefits of PACS Real-time availability of images and reports. Concurrent access to images by multiple users. Reduction in number of lost films. Improved and expedited communication between Providers and Radiologists. Direct access to PACS stored images via EpicCare Chart Review.

5 Enterprise-Wide Imaging Strategy Step 1: PACS Project Digital radiology available throughout all of GHC Includes all modalities except Mammography Includes medical equipment costs for CR (Computed Radiography) to acquire images digitally. Excludes any other radiology equipment upgrades that will take place during the PACS project implementation timeframe.
